In 1966, several Christian Brothers schools in the
Chicagoland area joined together to purchase an employee
benefits package for their employees. The original
group continued to grow as other schools and institutions
became aware of the cost savings from participating
with a larger group. The Christian Brothers Employee
Benefit Trust was established on January 1, 1977,
as a means to provide a comprehensive package of employee
benefits to the employees of Catholic institutions
registered in the Kenedy Official Catholic Directory
nationwide.
Health benefits are an important component of compensation
for all employees. The Christian Brothers Employee
Benefit Trust provides medical, RX, vision, dental,
long-term disability, and term life insurance coverage
to the employees of participating Catholic Church
entities. Due to our low administrative costs and
cost-containment provisions, the Trust makes it possible
for Catholic employers to offer a comprehensive benefits
program at reasonable costs.
Through the use of our self-funded cooperative, members
can obtain alternatives which are often better and
less expensive than commercial insurance.
