New Health and Wellness Programs

To continually support your health and wellness, The Christian Brothers Employee Benefit Trust is pleased to offer three additional programs: Migraine Care, AccordantCare™, and Cancer Care.

Migraine Care Program
With migraines ranking in the top 20 of the world’s most disabling medical illnesses, there’s no doubt that someone you know has or will suffer from this severe headache pain. Even though most migraine sufferers experience attacks once or twice a month, there are about 12 million Americans who have attacks on an almost daily basis. Because of these unnerving statistics, the Christian Brothers Employee Benefit Trust has joined with Principal Life Insurance Company to offer you the Migraine Care Program.

Anyone who suffers with migraines knows that the disabling pain affects everything from productivity at work, to care for their families and meeting social obligations, to the quality of life they lead. The Migraine Care Program provides support and relief to health plan members who experience migraine pain.

Members who have been identified as at risk for migraine-related events through a review of inpatient hospital admission or emergency room visits, will be contacted by the Principal Life Insurance Company to participate in the Migraine Care Program. If members feel they are a match for this program, they may also self-enroll.

Once enrolled in the program, migraine sufferers will receive a letter and educational materials, and may also be contacted by a registered nurse to provide ongoing one-on-one support and education. Migraine sufferers will also have access to a toll-free number to learn more about their illness and ask as many questions as they may have.

The Migraine Care Program focuses on each case individually to help develop potential ways to reduce migraine frequency and severity. When the sufferer understands how to manage their migraine, they will be better equipped in the future to prevent the severe pain from occurring, giving them a fresh start to living a healthy and headache-free life. If you are eligible to participate in the Migraine Care Program, you will be contacted directly by mail. To self enroll or to request a Migraine Tool-Kit, please call 1-800-533-5044. We encourage you to take advantage of the valuable resources offered through this program.

The Cancer Care Program

Cancer is a group of diseases characterized by uncontrolled growth and spread of abnormal cells. According to the National Cancer Institute, it is estimated that there will be about 1,437,180 new cancer cases diagnosed in 2008. Anyone is at risk of developing cancer, and that risk increases as an individual ages. Currently most cancer cases occur in adults who are middle-aged or older, with about 77% of cancer cases diagnosed in persons 55 and older.

As a result of new advancements, cancer survival rates are on an upswing. The key to survival improvements reflect the progress in diagnosing certain cancers at an earlier stage, as well as improvements in treatments.

In an effort to bring you the best quality care, the Christian Brothers Employee Benefit Trust has joined with Principal Life Insurance Company to offer you the Cancer Care Program.  If you are a CBEBT member or an enrolled dependent that has been diagnosed with cancer, you may qualify to participate in this free program.

The Cancer Care Program pairs you with a dedicated registered nurse who is committed to working with cancer patients. Your nurse will be there to offer you one-on-one care, support, and expertise as you move through diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Cancer Care nurses are specially trained, and understand fully what you and your family are going through both physically and emotionally. They will help interpret your treatment plan, facilitate your medical benefits coverage, and answer any medical questions you may have. Your personalized nurse will also help you locate quality providers in your area, track your treatment plan as well as any possible side effects, and identify questions you may have for your physician. Each nurse not only knows your disease, they also understand the daily challenges you face.

The Cancer Care Program is a valuable resource offered at no extra cost. If you are eligible to participate in this program, one of our trained cancer care nurses will contact you directly. If you have questions about the Cancer Care Program or would like to self-enroll, please call our customer service team at 1-800-807-0400.
