Lasallian Youth
Lasallian Youth provides the opportunity for youth to find a place to belong, living apostolic options during school years, and a spirituality that supports service to those in need. It aims at empowering young people in our society to work to bring about God’s reign in their own hearts and in the hearts of all those whose lives they touch.
Lasallian Youth groups are predominantly but not exclusively students in schools that were begun by De La Salle Christian Brothers, now known as Lasallian schools.
Throughout the world Lasallian Youth revolves around these three components: faith, service, and community. Lasallian Youth in the United States has also come to realize that social justice education needs to inform and enlighten these components.
The LI-NE District has Lasallian Youth groups in a number of its ministries; it also has Junior Lasallian Youth groups to meet the developmental and spiritual needs of younger, middle school-aged children.
Each summer members of Lasallian Youth groups from the East Coast districts (Baltimore, New York, LI-NE) gather at a college for a week of faith-sharing, community-building, and service to local community agencies.
Lasallian Volunteers
The Lasallian Volunteer movement offers a unique opportunity for an individual to respond to Christ’s call to the service of others, especially the poor. The response is a one to three year experience in the field of Lasallian education or related human development services. During this period of service, Lasallian Volunteers affiliate themselves with the ministry of the De La Salle Christian Brothers sharing fully in the apostolic and community life of the Brothers.
Lasallian Volunteers serve in a number of LI-NE ministries that serve the economically poor and live in Brothers’ communities.
