Huether Lasallian Conference:
Over 240 Lasallians gathered in Chicago from 20-22 November for the Huether Lasallian Conference on the theme of "Making Lasallian Ministries Accessible to All."  The LI-NE District had 36 participants, among them Board chairs and members, administrators, development directors, finance directors, and teachers.  Brother William Mann, Vicar General via the LI-NE District, presented the keynote address:  "Lasallian Mission:  A Way of Educating for Life for All.¨  His talk, very well-received by all in attendance, helped the participants to situate the major issues of service to the poor and accessibility both in an historical Lasallian context and in an Institute context.  Participants had 15 breakout sessions and a field trip to San Miguel (Gary Comer Campus) and De La Salle Institute available to choose from.  As part of a panel of graduates of Lasallian schools, Mr. Frank Coleman, Executive Vice President of CBIS and a graduate of La Salle Military Academy, presented a moving personal reflection on the impact of access to a Lasallian education in his own life.  At the final banquet, Elizabeth (Betty) and Wilson (Arty) Williams were recognized as the Distinguished Lasallian Educators from the LI-NE District.  Betty and Arty have both taught at Martin de Porres School, Queens, for many years.  Their extraordinary persons and work were acknowledged in the citation that they received. Congratulations and thanks to all participants, to Brother William Mann, to Frank Coleman, to Betty and Arty Williams, to Rob Archer who served on the Planning Committee, and to Brother Frederick Mueller who organized the LI-NE District participation in this event!
