Romeoville, IL, April 26, 2010 – Over the last two weeks, employees at Christian Brothers Services collected food items for Creekside Cares, a weekly school program based in Plainfield, Illinois.
The difficult economic times have taken their toll on many families across the country and especially hard hit are the children. While school lunch programs offer meals during the school week, weekends are a particularly vulnerable time for these students. Creekside Cares enables the students at Creekside Elementary School, through donations, to bring food home in their backpacks to help meet their dietary needs.
“I was just overwhelmed with the generosity demonstrated by CBS and the wonderful, compassionate employees you have,” commented Jeff Peterson, program director for Creekside Cares, “truly heartwarming how the community showed their love and empathy toward those in need! I could not say enough about how much the donation means to me and I know the students will be benefiting from this for a while!”
Employees at CBS collected 280 pounds of food which included fruit cups, macaroni & cheese, pasta, cereal, granola bars and much more. The donated items were delivered on April 23 to Creekside Elementary School.
