Romeoville, IL, May 24, 2010 - Christian Brothers Services held a wellness screening for employees and their families on Wednesday, May 19th at their Romeoville headquarters.
The wellness screening is an annual event which offers employees the opportunity to be proactive about their health. In its fifth year, the screening is a way to assist in preventing many diseases, disorders, and illnesses long before any symptoms can be present. “We believe that providing free on-site wellness screenings gives our members a quick, easy, and convenient way to gain valuable knowledge about their health,” says Karen Sims, director of underwriting for Christian Brothers Employee Benefit Services. “The results are reported back to the member with details and explanations that are both understandable and actionable. After completing the screening process they are able to continue learning more about their health through the wellness tools provided online as well as connect one on one with a wellness health coach that can help guide them to healthier living.”
Each participant took the Panel C diagnostic test, which is a series of 36 blood tests that can determine the early warning signs of anemia, infections, kidney disease, diabetes, heart disease, stroke and more. In addition to the Panel C, participants had their blood pressure checked, a body composition analysis and a health risk assessment. “I chose to have a screening because it’s conveniently held on premise, takes 15 minutes of my time, and I owe it to myself and my children to stay healthy,” stated Wendy Kirkland, senior administrative assistant.
In approximately three weeks, participants will receive their personal and confidential test result summary delivered directly to their home, so they can share the results with their primary care physician.
The wellness screening was administered by Wellness Inc., based in Aurora, IL, and specializes in the area of health screenings through the use of specialty laboratory testing and educational materials designed to detect diseases in the earliest stages. Wellness Inc. was founded on the belief that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
