Christian Brothers Services to Sponsor Speaker at LCWR 2018 Assembly

Romeoville, Illinois, Aug.3, 2018 - Christian Brothers Services (CBS) is sponsoring featured speaker, Heidi Russell, at the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) Assembly 2018 to be held Aug. 7 through Aug. 10 in St. Louis, Missouri.

Russell is an associate professor at the Institute of Pastoral Studies at Loyola University in Chicago who holds an MDiv from Washington Theological Union and a Ph.D. in religious studies from Marquette University. Her presentation to the LCWR assembly is entitled, “Trinity as Source, Word and Spirit of Love: Relationship as Core of Reality.” She will share her personal spiritual and faith formation journey in seeking God. As she addresses Catholic sisters who are leaders of their orders, she will speak to the yearning for connectedness that women religious desire among their communities and with the larger world.

She is the best-selling author of a number of books including: Source of All Love: Trinity and Catholicity; The Heart of Rahner; as well as Quantum Shift: Theological and Pastoral Implications of Contemporary Developments in Science, in which Russell suggests ways in which people of faith might engage in recent scientific developments to foster their understanding of God. Before teaching, she served for six years as a parish director of Christian formation.

In addition to sponsoring a featured speaker, CBS also will be exhibiting at the assembly. LCWR is an association of the leaders of congregations of Catholic women religious in the United States. The conference represents nearly 80 percent of the approximately 49,000 women religious in the U.S. Founded in 1956, the conference assists its members to collaboratively carry out their service of leadership to further the mission of the Gospel in today's world.
