Christian Brothers Services to present at LASSCA Conference

Romeoville, Illinois, Feb. 21, 2019—Christian Brothers Services (CBS) will be involved in every facet of the upcoming Lasallian Association of Secondary School Chief Administrators (LASCCA) Conference, to be held Feb. 24 through Feb. 27 at JW Marriott in Houston, Texas, including sponsorship, presentation and exhibition.

The LASSCA Conference is an opportunity for district and regional leaders of the Christian Brothers Conference, the office for the Lasallian Region of North America in the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, to gather with colleagues, sharing best practices and conversations around the theme of the ongoing Year of Lasallian Vocations.

CBS will serve as the sponsor for the keynote address by Brother Robert Schaefer, FSC, titled, “One Life (Live it Up): Sharing the Gospel Adventure with Those Entrusted to Our Care.” Schaefer, is the Secretariat of Formation for Mission for the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, Rome, Italy.

Mary J. Foley from CBS will present two breakout sessions. Foley, managing director of Catholic School Management and Mission Advancement at CBS, will present “Amping Up Your Annual Fund,” 1:00 to 2:15 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 26. This session will address key strategies for increasing participation rate, upgrading gift levels, recapturing donors and building a culture of major gifts.

“Annual Fund is the centerpiece of a school development program,” said Foley. “It expands the base of support, drives donors to higher levels of investment, reveals major donor and planned giving potential and provides a growing and predictable stream of revenue.”

Foley also will host a breakout session from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m., Feb. 26, titled “Banking on Your Board,” which will address the characteristics of strong boards and how to help them clarify expectations, recruit intentionally and provide the training and formation that enables them to embrace their roles with comfort, enthusiasm and impact.

Foley brings more than 35 years of experience to the not-for-profit world and offers a wealth of strategic leadership skills and insights to the educational, religious and social service arenas. Foley has worked with hundreds of not-for-profits, internally as a director of development, at the board level and through a wide variety of consulting engagements. She has raised hundreds of millions of dollars through capital campaigns, annual fund appeals and ever-expanding advancement initiatives for organizations large and small.

LASSCA is a forum for discussion and a vehicle for action whereby the leadership of the member schools and the Region collaborate in the promotion of the Lasallian mission to provide a human and Christian education to the young, especially the poor.
