Michael C. Burke

Michael C. Burke currently serves as president of Melbourne Central Catholic High School (MCC) in Melbourne, Florida.  In addition to serving as president of MCC for the past six years, Michael has spent more than 30 years working in the Catholic school profession as an administrator, teacher and coach.

Prior to assuming his leadership role at Melbourne Central Catholic, Michael served as Headmaster of Subiaco Academy, an all-boys Catholic Benedictine boarding school located in Subiaco, Arkansas.  His other positions have included President of St. Joseph Catholic School System in Bryan, Texas, for four years; and founder of two Catholic high schools in Alabama, St. Bernard Preparatory School in Cullman and Holy Spirit in Tuscaloosa, where he served as the first administrator.
 
Michael’s visionary leadership skills have led to the implementation of a variety of innovative programs at MCC as well as at other schools where he has served as administrator.  Enrollment sustainability has been one of Michael’s greatest strengths throughout his career in Catholic education.

Michael was recently selected as one of only two high school presidents in the nation to be recognized with top honors from the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA), with the Lead, Learn, Proclaim Award for his outstanding leadership efforts, contributions and achievements in Catholic education.  He was recognized at the NCEA 2016 Convention & Expo in San Diego, where he was also a presenter on the topic “Building a Sustainable Enrollment.”  Michael is also a regular contributor to NCEA’s quarterly Momentum magazine.

Michael earned a Master’s in Educational Leadership from the University of Dayton and a Bachelor of Arts in Business from Southern Benedictine College. Michael and his wife Jill have two grown children, Christopher who is a Catholic school administrator, and Erin who is a Registered Occupational Therapist.

Michael serves Catholic School Management and its clients as an adjunct consultant in areas of Catholic school enrollment sustainability, institutional assessments, strategic planning, and implementation of the president/principal leadership model.
